As the new Bishop and Supervisor of the Fifth Episcopal District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, we are thrilled to embark on this journey with you. Our theme, Mental Health, Music, and Mission, draws inspiration from Acts 16:25-26, where Paul and Silas, through their prayers and singing, not only experienced personal liberation but also transformed their entire community. Their faith and worship led to a miraculous earthquake that opened prison doors and set everyone free. Our anchor song is Blessed Assurance, reminding us that everything is already alright.
Mental Health
Multiple pandemics and compounded grief have taken a toll on our well-being. Restoring and maintaining our mental health is essential. Just as Paul and Silas found strength in their faith, we must create a supportive environment within our church where everyone feels valued and heard. We will use all available resources to create opportunities for healing and hope.
Music
Music is a unifying and comforting tool. Like the hymns that Paul and Silas sang, music has the power to heal and inspire, bringing us closer to God and each other. Let us lift our voices in praise, allowing the melodies of our faith to transform and unite our community.
Mission
Our mission is to meet the least, the lost, and the left out. We are called to be the hands and feet of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, serving others with love and grace. Together, we will make a tangible impact in our communities, reflecting the heart of God in all we do.
May God bless each of you, all of us as, and all we touch as we embark on this exciting journey.
In faith,
Rt. Rev. Francine A. Brookins, Esq.
